Erwin Capitol Theatre

The owners of the historic Capitol Theatre in Erwin said roof repairs would begin in January; however, during a BMA meeting in March, town leaders were told no work had been done.

ERWIN — The Erwin Board of Mayor and Aldermen heard an update from city attorney Tom Seeley about current litigation involving the Capitol Theatre property.

Seeley told the board that in 2022, an order to vacate the Capitol Theatre property was issued by the town following inspection due to severe roof damage. The order was appealed all the way to chancery court in 2023, where the order was upheld and the building×ÔοÊÓƵ owner, Robert Fury, was ordered to make repairs by January 2024.
